The Gold Standard of ExcellenceThe cover story
Founded in December 1975 at Kean University in New Jersey, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated became the first Latina-founded and Latina-based sorority in the nation. What began as a dream among seventeen visionary women has grown into a powerful network of thousands of sisters across the country.
The founders sought to create an organization that would provide Latina women with a supportive sisterhood while promoting cultural awareness, academic excellence, and community service. Their motto, “Todas para una, una para todas” (All for one, one for all), continues to guide the organization today.
“We are committed to empowering women through education, community service, and the celebration of our Latina heritage.”
Lambda Theta Alpha Mission Statement
Over five decades, Lambda Theta Alpha has established chapters at universities nationwide, creating lasting impact through scholarship programs, mentorship initiatives, and community partnerships. The sorority remains dedicated to its founding principles while meeting the needs of contemporary Latina women.
