Texas Panhellenic at The University of Texas at Austin completed a $45,000 fundraising campaign in May 2026 to support a new school in Senegal. The project brought 13 sorority chapters together with Circle of Sisterhood, buildON, Austin businesses, and support from the university’s Interfraternity Council.
The school had not opened when the campaign was reported in July 2026. Construction was scheduled to begin in fall 2026, making this a documented funding achievement with a community project still in progress. How did the campaign reach $45,000?
Fundraising began in fall 2024 and continued through May 2026. The campaign included parent-weekend raffles, contributions from Austin businesses, and restaurant profit-sharing events.
The largest contribution came through registration fees from West Fest, the Interfraternity Council’s annual spring concert. That contribution supplied the remaining amount needed to reach the goal.

Who determines what happens next?
The project is being developed through Circle of Sisterhood and buildON. BuildON works with local residents before construction begins through community meetings, land rights, building materials, and a local project committee composed of six women and six men.
Sorority members raised the money. BuildON and Circle of Sisterhood coordinate the project. Community members in Senegal participate in local planning and implementation. Each group has a different role in the outcome.
This was not Texas Panhellenic’s first school campaign
In 2024, Texas Panhellenic raised $40,000 to repair a school in Nicaragua. The project replaced older rooms with permanent facilities serving 78 students, including 40 girls.
The Senegal campaign is expected to support Circle of Sisterhood’s 50th school completed with Panhellenic organizations. That milestone should be confirmed again after construction is completed.
What makes the project relevant to Greek life?
Individual sororities often support their own national philanthropic causes. A Panhellenic council can also give chapters a way to address one goal collectively.
- Thirteen sorority chapters participated through their shared council.
- Local businesses contributed to fundraising.
- Circle of Sisterhood supplied sorority-led nonprofit coordination.
- BuildON supplied school-construction experience.
- Fraternity members contributed through West Fest registration fees.
- Local residents in Senegal are participating in project preparation.
The next update should document the outcome
The $45,000 total is complete and publicly reported. The school’s completion is a separate milestone. A follow-up should confirm when construction ended, enrollment after opening, the number of girls gaining access to education, and how local residents participated.
Fundraising tells readers what supporters contributed. Outcome reporting tells them what the contribution produced.
